Halong Bay

This weekend we traveled out to the World Heritage Site Ha Long Bay.  They are rightfully trying to make it one of the Natural Wonders of the World, with ~2,000 limestone karsts jetting out of the water in every direction.  The "junk" that we stayed on was awsome; meeting other travellers from around the world........one couple from Romania were celebrating their 1 year anniversary of traveling around the world!!!  We toured one of the largest caves on the bay, then got to take a kayak out and do some exploring ourselves.  After 2 days out on the Bay we returned back to Hanoi to check out of our guesthouse and take a 13 hour overnight train to Dong Hoi.  It goes without saying that 13 hours anywhere is tough, but the "soft" sleeper that we took was bumpy and rough on the back (I'd hate to see what the "regular" sleepers feel like).  We are off to see the caves of Phang-Nha Ke Bang National Park tomorrow, and then heading to Hue & Hoi An for a couple of days.  We are hoping that we will run into the sun at some point! In the meantime, check out our photos on Picasa (sorry mom's if you have trouble pulling these up!).
